An Ask the Doctor television program, produced by San Ramon Regional Medical Center, is a finalist in the 22nd Annual Telly Awards. This is the third consecutive year the hospital received a finalist award. The Telly Awards were founded in 1980 to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network programming, cable TV commercials, film, and video productions.
The hospital's program was among 11,000 entries judged. Approximately 14-18% of entrants become finalists and 7-10% become winners. Competitors in last year's competition included clients such as A&E, Columbia Tristar, DreamWorks SKG, ESPN International, HBO, Miramax Films, Sony & TiVo, The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Touchstone Pictures, and Warner Bros.
The program that received finalist recognition was Body Imaging/Plastic Surgery with guests, Paul Wotowic, MD and Violet Smallhome, MD.
Ask the Doctor is a live, phone-in community educational TV program co-sponsored with Contra Costa County Health Services Department cablecast on CCTV. Dr. Robert Litman, Charter Member of the National Association of Physician Broadcasters is the Medical Commentator for the program and Jane Roberts-MacArt is the Producer of the program.
Programs are filmed live twice a month with rebroadcasts aired on local access cable channels throughout the Bay Area. Programs previously aired include such topics as Advances in Cardiac Surgery, Spinal Cord and Brain Injuries, Eating Disorders, Urinary Incontinence, Gynecology, Heartburn, and Infant Hearing Screening.
