From prenatal care to routine mammograms to menopause challenges and beyond, women’s needs evolve with seasons of life. The Obstetrics & Gynecology and Breast Center teams at San Ramon Regional Medical Center are here to help you anticipate and be ready for what’s next. Let us help you live your best life.

“We are proud to provide convenient access to an excellent team of experts including gynecologists, obstetricians, nurses and surgeons,” said Joanne Vogel, M.D., Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “We work closely with our patients to provide an individualized treatment plan based on their specific needs.”

Women face many unique health issues and we are here to offer specialized help. When conditions require advanced care, San Ramon Regional Medical Center is ready with safe care. While at one point in history many health issues required surgery, today we focus on nonsurgical care or minimally invasive procedures that typically reduce pain and recovery time. For example, the da Vinci Xi Surgical System is one option for minimally invasive surgery, which can be used for a variety of procedures, including:

  • Hysterectomy — for benign conditions and the early stages of gynecologic cancer
  • Myomectomy to remove uterine fibroids
  • Endometriosis surgery
  • Endometrial/cervical cancer surgery
  • Sacrocolpopexy to correct vaginal/uterine prolapse

The da Vinci Xi Surgical System uses robotic arms controlled by a surgeon, enabling greater precision and smaller cuts.

For women delivering babies at the Family Birthing Center at San Ramon Regional Medical Center, the focus is always on you and your newborn. Our center provides comprehensive maternity and neonatal care.

“From birthing classes to lactation consultation, our medical team provides education and care,” Dr. Vogel said. “Our nurses generally work one-on-one with patients in labor, which fosters a trusting relationship between the patient and their nurse.”

Patients have access to private, fully equipped labor and delivery suites that are designed with comfort in mind. Each room is connected to a central fetal monitoring system so nurses can easily monitor your baby at all times. The Family Birthing Center also has dedicated operating suites for caesarean deliveries.

San Ramon Regional Medical Center provides support services for babies born with complications. We operate a Level II special care nursery to meet the care needs of these infants, and a neonatologist is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Annual mammograms are also an important aspect of a woman’s wellness routine, generally beginning at age 40. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, exceeded only by lung cancer. Statistics indicate that one in eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her lifetime. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. Mammograms are the most effective form of early detection.

The Breast Center at San Ramon Regional Medical Center conveniently offers same day mammogram appointments. To schedule an appointment, please call (925) 275-6116.

We also offer the most advanced treatment options to patients with breast cancer by utilizing the SCOUT® Wire-Free Radar Breast Localization System to provide easier, more compassionate care to women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This technology has been shown to decrease patient discomfort and improve patient satisfaction. SCOUT uses non-radioactive, radar technology to provide real-time surgical guidance during breast surgery.

San Ramon Regional Medical Center is a convenient destination for all your healthcare needs. Our experienced physicians and nurses provide a full continuum of care from diagnosis to treatment. Our goal is for you to live your fullest, healthiest life.
