Dr. Patrick Joseph Named Educator of the Year by San Ramon Chamber

Patrick Joseph, M.D., Chair of Infection Control at San Ramon Regional Medical Center, has been named Educator of the Year by the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Joseph was recognized during the chamber’s annual Night of the Stars awards ceremony, which was held virtually on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020. The 36th Annual Business and Community Awards recognize the business leaders and community members who strive to make San Ramon one of the most desirable places to live in California.

San Ramon Mayor Bill Clarkson presented the Educator of the Year award to Dr. Joseph.

“It has been a real honor to have an opportunity to get to know him,” said Mayor Clarkson, who has featured Dr. Joseph on his Mayor’s Breakfast series on numerous occasions this year. “You are truly a hero, both to our community and also to me. I appreciate everything you’ve done for us.”

Dr. Joseph has educated San Ramon Regional’s medical staff, kept teams up-to-speed on the latest research and evolving clinical guidelines, and has been an invaluable resource in helping the hospital manage the care of its COVID-19 patients.

“He has singlehandedly, in my opinion, helped educate our community on all issues revolving around this virus. He has a thoughtful and reassuring demeanor. He has helped our residents in their approach to protecting their families and their businesses from this virus with his comments and straightforward explanations of what’s going on,” Mayor Clarkson added.

“I learned long ago that one of the most gratifying things in an individual’s life is to be recognized by their community. To be recognized by [the mayor], by the chamber, by the community in which we all work, it is truly an honor and I’m very proud to accept the award and for that, I thank you,” Dr. Joseph expressed. “I absolutely love what I do. I couldn’t be honored more than to get an award for loving what I do.”

The San Ramon Chamber presented six awards: Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Essential Workers of the Year, Educator of the Year, Green Company of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

"The Business and Community Awards event is an opportunity to thank and give appreciation to individuals who have made a significant difference and contribution in our community," said San Ramon Chamber of Commerce President, Stewart Bambino.
