Volunteer with Us
Volunteers at San Ramon Regional Medical Center are integral members of our hospital team. Our dedicated volunteers provide thousands of hours of compassionate service for our patients and their families or caregivers and help support our hospital staff. Some volunteers work behind the scenes, while others interact directly with patients, visitors, staff and physicians. We do not have an infant cuddling program.
Adult Volunteers
We request a minimum commitment of six months or 100 hours of service. Most volunteer positions have a time requirement of one three-to-four-hour shift per week. Most shifts are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Weekend shifts are available in the Emergency Department and the Nursing Unit.
Adult Volunteer Requirements
- Submission of a complete volunteer application
- Satisfactory background check
- Meet health clearance requirements, which include MMR, Varicella, Tdap amd Hep B immunizations
- Tuberculosis Screening Test
- Proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations and one COVID-19 booster
- Annual flu shot is required
- Attend a general hospital orientation, which is held once a month

Junior Volunteers
We partner with the college and career counselors at the high schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to recommend students to our program. Interested students should reach out to their counselor early in the school year to learn about the application process at their school for our program. We onboard students once a year. The selection process is normally completed by mid-May. Once accepted into the program, students typically volunteer through the end of their senior year. Junior volunteer shifts are Monday through Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Early morning shifts from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. may be available.
Junior Volunteer Requirements
- Must be rising sophomores or juniors
- Volunteer for one three-hour shift per week, year-round
- Meet health clearance requirements, which include MMR, Varicella, Tdap and Hep B immunizations
- Tuberculosis screening test
- Proof of two COVID-19 Vaccinations and one COVID-19 booster
- Annual flu shot is required
- Attendance at junior volunteer orientation
