San Ramon Regional Medical Center has appointed Ann Lucena as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Effective April 23, 2018, Lucena will assume responsibility for all hospital operations, executive planning and directing medical services. Gary Sloan recently announced his retirement and will be stepping down as CEO following a distinguished career with Tenet Healthcare.

“Gary has faithfully served the San Ramon community for the last 15 years and we wish him all the best in his retirement. Now, we are excited to bring Ann on board, as she brings a wealth of experience to San Ramon Regional Medical Center,” said Warren Kirk, Tenet Healthcare, Northern California Group CEO. “I am confident the hospital will continue to grow under her leadership to serve the needs of our patients and the community that the hospital has the privilege of serving.”

Lucena joins San Ramon Regional Medical Center from Dallas where she served as the Senior Director of Hospital Operations and Chief of Staff to Tenet’s President of Hospital Operations. She played a pivotal role in a number of strategic growth and operational improvement activities across Tenet’s system of 69 acute care hospitals and related outpatient care sites.

Lucena is no stranger to San Ramon Regional having served as Associate Administrator at the hospital for three years prior to her role in Dallas. While at San Ramon Regional, she managed the cardiopulmonary, radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, volunteer and dietary services. She was also heavily involved in the hospital’s due diligence for the joint venture agreement with John Muir, and she oversaw several key construction and expansion projects.

Lucena joined Tenet in 2012 after a broad range of experiences including healthcare investment banking and healthcare consulting. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She has served on the Tenet Healthcare Foundation Board, Tenet Care Fund Committee and Tenet Benefits Administration Committee.

Lucena was the Vice Mayor of the Leadership San Ramon Valley class of 2013.
